Our Story
From Africa to Europe
Founded by Damien du Preez, a young South African living in Germany, Beagle & Baobab began as a heartfelt tribute to South Africa’s untamed wilderness, culinary traditions, and diverse landscapes. Now we’re on a mission to totally reimagine what a travel company can be, beginning with a small collection of intimate travel itineraries.
Inspired by Adventure
Inspired by legendary tales, Beagle & Baobab’s name pays homage to two icons of adventure: the HMS Beagle, the 17th century ship that carried Charles Darwin on his world-famous voyages of exploration and discovery, and the ancient African baobab, a solitary and mystical tree that has captivated the continent’s explorers for centuries.
“Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same.”
— James Stevenson-Hamilton | First Warden of the Kruger National Park, c. 1867 - 1957
